Room Parent & Helper Guidelines and Expectations

Thank you for volunteering to be a room parent!

This document will give you basic guidelines and expectations for this role.

If you have any questions, please reach out to our room parent coordinator, Crystal George, at 215-715-5917

Room Parent Responsibilities:

As a room parent, you will work closely with your child’s teacher as the main contact between them and the room helpers. All class parties have set dates, which are listed further in the document. You will plan and organize with all the room helpers for party planning which includes food, snacks, games, and crafts. Be sure to begin communicating with your room helpers as soon as possible.

Room Helper Responsibilities:

As a room helper, you will work with the room parent to plan and execute all the approved class parties. This includes coming up with snack lists, crafts, games, and anything else that may make the party extra special. Each class party is allowed to have 2-3 helpers depending on the class size, and it is best practice to rotate through the room helpers, so everyone has an opportunity to attend.

Tips for a successful class party:

“Volunteers do not necessarily have the time, they just have the heart.”
